Events & Announcement

This Sunday we warmly welcome Reverend Ken Bellous, and his wife Joyce to McLaurin. Ken is the Chairman of the Board of Gull Lake Baptist Camp and Gull Lake Centre and will share with us about his ministry.

 Thank you to Richard Wallman for4 his work and supervision of the clearing of our sidewalks and parking lot during this challenging winter. Richard, despite the head cold he received from willingly doing this ministry, faithfully carries out these chores. Thank you Richard!

 We thank Janet Serwah-Antwi for her prayerful compiling of the daily verses and weekly memory verses during the just completed 40 Days of Prayer. Each year, Janet prays about what verses and themes we should be praying through and then trusts God to lead her to the verses. Thank you, Janet, for this valuable ministry and welcome back from your winter ministry time in Ghana!

 To all those who contributed food items for last week’s Shrove Tuesday dinner, we say “thank you”. And to the team of men who put the delicious meal together, we also extend our thanks: Setri Dzivenu, Kehinde Olabimtan, Patrick Uhuad, John Renfree, Ken Bender and John Cline.

 Again this year, we will be having six different individuals from our congregation deliver a “Lenten Devotional” during the six Sundays of Lent (February 18th, 25th, March 4th, 11th, 18th, and 25th). We are preaching our way through the Book of Isaiah, and tying in that reality with our Lenten Devotional speakers sharing from the amazing and beautiful “Servant Songs” found within Isaiah’s writings. On February 18th, Tim Davison will lead things off with his exposition on Servant Song number one (which is found at Isaiah 42:1-9).

 In the church parking lot, please leave the parking stall along the north fence free for the Clines and Dzivenus. They are almost always the last ones to leave the church on Sundays; leaving that stall open for them will allow them to double-park, giving us one more stall in the parking lot.

 Believer’s Baptism is one of the two ordinances at all Baptist churches observe. If you would like to be baptized, please speak with John, or Setri, or Ken, or any member of the Church board. The Easter season, and particularly Easter Sunday, (April 1st this year) are traditionally significant times for baptism. So if you have not been baptized by immersion thus far on your Christian walk, it may be that God is speaking to you now. We encourage you to follow through on this important and life changing experience
